Tooele City Police engaged in a brief chase on Main Street involving a stolen vehicle Sunday afternoon.
Officers first located the stolen vehicle near 870 North Main Street around 4:20 p.m., according to Tooele police. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and headed northbound on Main Street.
The chase continued until approximately 1280 North Main St., when the driver of the stolen vehicle headed into oncoming traffic. Officers stopped their pursuit at that time due to the threat to public safety, Tooele police said.
A short time after the chase, which only lasted a few minutes, officers recovered the stolen vehicle in the area of Overlake.
According to Tooele police, the suspect in the vehicle theft was identified during the chase and charges will be filed through the Tooele County Attorney’s office.
As they are not in custody yet, Tooele police have not released the suspect’s name at this time.
