The intersection of Erda Way and state Route 138 east of Grantsville closed Tuesday and may remain closed for construction through the end of the week.

The closure is in effect on the Erda Way side of the intersection, and through traffic is not permitted west of Sheep Lane. Local traffic will be allowed on the road, but SR-138 will not be accessible from Erda Way during the closure, which should remain in place for about eight days.

SR -138 will remain open during construction, but will be restricted to one-lane, two-way traffic between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., as directed by flaggers on site.

Meanwhile, motorists are encouraged to use state Route-112 or Sheep Lane to avoid construction.

The closure is part of an ongoing construction project that will replace the current intersection with a T-shaped intersection where both roads will meet at a 90-degree angle. The new configuration will improve safety and provide a better line-of-sight for drivers, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

The project should be complete by the end of September, but both the length of the construction and of the closure are subject to change without favorable weather conditions.
