A Tooele man is dead after the Ford Mustang he was driving struck a parked car on South Tooele Boulevard on Monday afternoon.
Brian Bell, 42, died of his injuries sustained in the crash, according to Tooele City Police. Bell’s red Ford Mustang was traveling northbound in the area of 435 S. Tooele Boulevard around 2:20 p.m. when he struck a black Volkswagen parked on the shoulder of the road, hit the curb, and rolled off the side of the road, police said.
A teenager, whose name was not released, was riding in the car with Bell and was transported to Mountain West Medical Center in critical condition, police said. Bell was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to Tooele City Police.
It’s believed that Bell was not wearing his seatbelt, but the teenage passenger was, police said.
The damage to the rear of the Volkswagen and skid marks on the road prior to the crash indicate speed may have been a factor, but the cause of the crash is still under review, according to police.
Tooele City Police are working with the Utah Highway Patrol to estimate the speed the car was traveling prior to the accident.
