The fourth annual Miss Tooele City Pageant will take place Monday at 7 p.m. in the Tooele High School auditorium. All are welcome to attend the event, which is free to the public. This year’s pageant features 10 contestants.
The contestants include:
Jacquelyn “Jacki” Crisp
Jacquelyn Crisp, 20, plans to go to Utah State University and get her bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language.

“When I was younger, I looked up to the girls representing the city and I’ve always wanted to portray a good image to those younger girls who are trying to find someone to look up to,” she said.
Katie Jensen
Katie Jensen, 20, attends Utah State University where she is studying health and physical education. She plans to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2017. After graduation, she will teach health and PE in a secondary school.
“After living away at school, I have realized just how much Tooele City means to me, how our community has shaped my life and given me the values I enjoy,” she said. “I would be honored to give back to our wonderful community.”
Collette Elise Jones
Collette Jones, 18, has been accepted into the music program at Brigham Young University where she will major in commercial music. Her goal is to one day compose music for soundtracks. In the meantime, she looks forward to composing music for movie trailers, video games and commercials. She also looks forward to marrying in an LDS temple her “red-headed cellist.”
“Throughout high school, I have never been popular — I could spend all day making a list of all of the things that I’m not,” she said. “The reason I want to be Miss Tooele City is to show everyone who feels that way that you don’t have to be the most popular, the best or the brightest to be something amazing. You just have to be you.”
Brianna Eileen Lyman
Brianna Lyman, 19, currently is a sophomore at the University of Utah, where she is a student with the Musical Theatre Program. She looks forward to graduating and wants to share her passion of theatre and performing arts as a drama/vocal teacher.
“I have a strong memory of Tooele from my early childhood,” she said. “It was a cool spring morning, and my dad woke me and my brother up early to go on an adventure. The three of us hiked to the top of Little Mountain and stood for a long time overlooking our beautiful Tooele Valley. It was the first time I remember feeling pride about my community… I have had the privilege to travel to many places throughout the United States, and when I return to Tooele, I always feel a strong sense of gratitude for what this town has offered me.”
Makenna “Kenna” Rose Murray
Makenna Murray, 16, is a junior at Tooele High School. Her goal is to earn an academic scholarship and attend Utah State University. She currently is undecided about what she would like to study, though she knows that it will have “nothing to do with chemistry.”
“I want to be Miss Tooele City for the experience,” she said. “I see Miss Tooele City as an opportunity to get involved with the community on a whole new level. Participating in the Miss Tooele City Pageant is actually taking me out of my comfort zone. Just preparing for it has opened my eyes to bigger and better things in my life. … This experience will only enhance the opportunities that I have and also give me more chances to share my passion of serving others.”
Kemari Nelson
Kemari Nelson, 17, is a 2015 graduate of Tooele High School. She plans to continue her education at Utah State University and the College of Southern Idaho to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. She has a passion for music, animals and serving others. She currently is employed at UEC Theaters. She describes herself as shy because when you first meet her, she doesn’t talk very much.
“I think it would be amazing to be Miss Tooele City because I have lived out here ever since I was three and I have been able to see Tooele City change but still remain the cute little town it is today,” she said. “I would like to represent the Tooele City population and be an example to both young and old to get involved. I love serving others and I would like to be someone that everyone can look up to. I love seeing people smile and I hope to be able to continue that every day.”
Alisa “Ali” Patience
Alisa Patience, 17, currently attends Tooele High School. Her goal is to graduate from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in either English, public relations management or creative writing. She has lived in Tooele for 12 of her 17 years and intends to live in Tooele after college. She said she has several different versions of her future planned out, down to the color of the paint on the walls and they all involve her making a positive impact on the lives of those around her.
“There is a disappointing lack of community pride amongst the students of Tooele,” she said. “They don’t realize that if people would stop moving away and would get more involved in the community, then they would have more ‘things to do.’ I love Tooele, I’m extremely happy I grew up here and I would like to do what I can to help the town and make people love it as much as I do.”
Aubrey Julia Roth
Aubrey Roth, 19, also known as “Belle,” currently attends Utah Valley University and is studying ballroom dance and American Sign Language. Her goal is to complete her bachelor’s degree. She is a 2014 graduate of Stansbury High School.
“My parents moved our family to Tooele almost 14 years ago, so I truly consider Tooele to be my hometown,” she said. “I love Tooele! Growing up, I loved participating in programs at school, Oquirrh Hills Golf Course and others in the community such as Missoula Children’s Theatre. All of these things taught and helped shape me into the person I am now, and I would be ecstatic to have the opportunity to support and give back to Tooele City as Miss Tooele City.”
Brin Stewart
Brin Stewart, 18, will attend Snow College this fall on a volleyball scholarship and will play for the Badgers. She will study business.
“I love Tooele and have been given many opportunities to express my love,” she said. “I would like to be able to give back to this cute city I live in and be a positive role model to those younger than me.”
