Tooele Applied Technology College has joined a group of local financial professionals to offer a personal financial summit for the public Thursday.

And it’s free.

The summit at TATC will open with a variety of breakout sessions on financial topics, and conclude with a keynote speaker and a panel question-and-answer session.

The keynote speaker will be Chris Redgrave, senior vice president of community relations for Zions Bank. Redgrave oversees the business radio program “Speaking on Business.”

The summit will start at 4:30 p.m. with four different breakout sessions. Breakout session topics will change every 20 minutes with a 10-minute break between sessions.

Breakout session topics include: social security, life insurance, estate planning, Medicare, healthcare reform, reverse mortgages, tax strategies, investment basics, teaching kids about money, retirement planning, lowering property and casualty costs, scholarships and education grants, mortgage solutions, debt relief, business development, and estate planning.

Each session will be led by a local financial professional, according to Tye Hoffmann, a financial advisor with Edward Jones, who is one of the summit’s organizers.

“The breakout sessions are open house style,” he said. “People can show up at anytime and choose the sessions they want to attend.”

The presenters will also be available in the lobby of TATC to meet the public and answer questions, Hoffmann said.

Redgrave will address the group at 7 p.m. Her topic is “The Power of Positivity.”

Following the keynote speaker, financial professionals will hold a group question-and-answer panel.

There will be light refreshments served during the summit and prize drawings for participants at the conclusion.

Other organizers of the summit, along with Hoffmann, include Mel Sweat of Modern Woodmen Financial Services; Jake Johnson, founding member of J.L. Johnson Certified Public Accountant; Matt McMullin, an estate planning attorney; Mark Walker, director of the Tooele Business Resource Center; and Ryen Salazar, business analyst with USU’s Small Business Development Center.

TATC is located at 88 S. Tooele Boulevard in Tooele City. Breakout sessions start at 4:30 p.m. The keynote address scheduled for 7 p.m. An agenda for the summit, including breakout session topics and times, can be found at www.tooelebusiness.org/events.html.
