An Oklahoma man suspected of shooting and killing his girlfriend earlier this month was arrested in West Wendover on Tuesday.
Federal investigators had tracked 37-year-old Erik Williams to the West Wendover area and gave that information to officers from the West Wendover Police Department, according to a press release.
Local officers were then able to use his picture and personal information to find him in a local casino, according to the release.
Williams was arrested without incident. A warranted search of the car he was driving found suspected drugs and other items, according to the release, which were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
According to news reports from Oklahoma, Williams is accused of murdering his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend, Christian Shockley, in Tulsa on Oct. 8.
Local police said the couple had a history of domestic violence, and the pair had broken up a few days before Shockley’s murder.
Police said Williams had been doing methamphetamine before the murder, but that Shockley’s killing was premeditated, according to news reports.
Witnesses said Shockley and a man were arguing outside of her apartment, when the man took a gun out of his pickup truck, shot her and drove off, according to news reports. The description of that truck led police to suspect and issue a warrant for Williams.
